What do I offer?

Support for older adults who want to regain strength, fitness and confidence.

As we age our bodies change, we begin to lose muscle strength, bone strength and cardio fitness; this can restrict our day to day activities if we don’t take action to manage this change. It’s easy to become more sedentary, sitting more and walking less – particularly if you are reducing work hours and use the car regularly. We put on weight and lose core muscle strength so it’s harder to move around, get out of chairs or climb stairs.

When you come to me, we start with a conversation about what you are wanting to change and what you need. I undertake some assessments and then design a program specifically focused on you and your needs. We can look at your nutrition, work on muscle strength at your level or even just develop a walking program.

I have helped clients lose weight, walk without a frame, regain balance and walking fitness or simply regain the ability to stand up out of a chair independently.

Many individuals feel nervous and uncertain about using a gym– I did too when I was getting started. My aim is to introduce people to how to access a gym, show you how to lift safely and develop your own exercise habit leading you to feel physically and mentally strong deep into later life.

I work out of a small gym in Colwick called Real World Fitness. It is very quiet, and friendly, many of the clients are older and about half of the clientele are women. One of my clients calls it his sanctuary. We want you to feel healthier, happier, more independent and more confident.

We will meet for a free individual consultation, I’ll explain how the training works and, if you want to sign up, start to talk about individual aspirations. I will do some simple assessments and look at your current mobility and fitness. Don’t worry, this will be at your level.
